TK Orthopedic Surgery Fellowship Program

TK Joint Center was established with the premise of providing state-of-the art care of Knee joint pathologies. At the same time, we endeavour to spread and foster knowledge and skills to future Orthopedic surgeons to help them realize their dreams. TK joint center is committed to its effort and offer its flagship fellowship program in the subspecalities of Knee arthroplasty, arthroscopy and sports medicine. Our motive is to establish a strong bedrock of knowledge, skill and professionalism in the spectrum of patient care for a better future.

This program is a paid hands-on clinical and surgical training in the field of Knee arthroplasty and arthroscopy.it is designed for those aspiring Orthopedic surgeons who have the ambition and aptitude to pursue these subspecalities on the long run, and who wish to have one to one didactic surgical experience. This fellowship program is open to Orthopedic surgeons overseas and national alike.

Fellows will work within a team headed by Prof T K Kim, MD, Ph.D. alongside other fellows, residents, rehabilitation specialist, research associates and other staffs. Prof T K Kim is one of the stalwarts and pioneer in the field of Knee arthroplasty not only in South Korea, but renowned and revered worldwide for his academic, surgical and professional credentials. He is crowned with the feat of mentoring hundreds of fellows and residents both overseas and local since 2003.

Work and training schedule

Fellows will be trained in a highly advanced setting adapting the latest protocol of clinical, surgical care and rehabilitation. They will be exposed and gain in-depth experience in all aspect to knee pathologies like Arthroscopy, Ligament reconstruction, Joint preservation osteotomy, primary and revision Arthroplasty.

Fellows will work 6 days a week, except public holidays and Sundays. They are expected to patriciate actively in all aspect of patient care from interactive clinical rounds, pre-operative surgical planning, post-operative care and rehabilitation.

They will attend outpatient clinics to learn the nuances and intricacies of patient care, diagnosis, counselling with utmost compassion and professionalism. Fellows will attend Operation rooms, will participate under supervision including assisting in surgery, and hands-on experience.

Research activity

We believe fellowship training remain incomplete without academic and research activity. Here we laid down strong foundation of academic activity alongside comprehensive clinical and surgical training. Fellows will work in a dedicated research team comprising of research associates under the guidance of Prof T K Kim. Fellows will attend dedicated interactive teaching and research session every week. Each fellow will be given project to complete within stipulated time with the focus on publishing and adding to world literature. Progress of research activity will be monitored every week. Apart from this, fellows will have the opportunity to present their work in national or international meetings. They will be taken to conferences, seminars, symposiums, and workshops so as to enrich knowledge, remain updated with the contemporary developments, where they will get the opportunity to hobnob with national and international stalwarts of Orthopedics discipline.

Support and allowances

  1. Upon successful evaluation and program completion, fellows will receive a hospital based fellowship certificate.
  2. Training allowances will be provided.
  3. Accommodation with all necessary facilities in a dormitory alongside with co-fellows.
  4. Dedicated office room for academic session and research works.
  5. Round the clock internet facility both in Hospital and in accommodation.
  6. Invitation and support to attend conferences, symposiums, workshops.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Should have a recognized specialist degree or equivalent in Orthopedics.
  2. Should be competent in English speaking and writing skills.
  3. Should commit to the program for not less than 6 months duration.
  4. Should be well acquainted with computer skills and biostatistics.

  4. Letters of recommendation from head of institution/unit of parent institution.

    utilize the fellowship program to the fullest in your capacity.
  6. Copy of passport.

Application period

We accept applications all-round the year. Due to high volume and competitive nature of applications, we cannot commit any allotment schedule, but intake will be based on the number of available spots.

The applicants will be selected on the basis of academic credentials, aptitude, personal qualities, communication skills, professional goals, and ambition to pursue the learning in this fellowship program to carry forward in longer term.
